After more than two years of being blocked, Youtube returned to Turkey as of November 1, 2010.
I guess the authorities read my blog and thought again about it.With regard to the newspaper www.elmundo.es it is still blocked, as well as thousands of other webpages.

I had prior knowledge of the blockade on www.youtube.com and knew the reason why it's blocked in Turkey (although I do not believe the official version.) But I did not know that the censorship has also blocked the spanish newspaper www.elmundo.es (don't know why but I can imagine) and a few other pages. I've heard, that in the last 3 years, more than 6000 pages have been blocked.
Now, that's censorship!

The decision to block these pages comes from the 5651 law approved by the Turkish Parliament in 2007 to regulate Internet content. This law included any offense to Turkey's founder Mustafa Kemal Atatürk.
Why was youtube banned?
Apparently, in 2008 several videos made by Greeks appeared on the web insulting the Turkish national hero, Atatürk, so the court decided to block the YouTube site.
The last thing I read on this was, that the current government considered this measure exaggerated and hoped to unblock it by 2011.
